Can you believe Christmas is only six days away? How are we almost at the end of another year? I feel like this year, without a doubt, has flown by. My family and I are truly excited about Christmas especially being that my mom will be here us. My agenda includes a little relaxation with a lot of eating! Even though Christmas tends to bring tons of energy and excitement, there’s also a level of stress and pressure that it brings as well.
Stress, which is the body’s internal alarm system that recognizes danger and prepares itself for action, can present itself in many forms and can stem from a multitude of pressures such as: Job loss or dissatisfaction, Grief, Financial matters or Family dynamics. Left unchecked, these stressors can cause numerous physical and emotional issues. For myself, stress shows up in the form of migraines, body tenseness and irritability and who has time to deal with that during the holidays!!!
This is why I am a true believer of self-care. Very cliche’, I know. I try my best to make self-care a habit and although it doesn’t always happen the way I plan, I try to be intentional about taking some “me” time whenever I can, especially during the holiday season when things get stressful and busy.
Since we are a few days away from Christmas, I created a short self-care list to use as a guide for the week. This is by no means an exclusive list, so I encourage you to incorporate as many other ideas as you see fit.
You deserve to be spoiled and pampered, even if you’re the one doing the spoiling!!!
What are some of your self-care rituals? Share them in the comments below.
