When was the last time you celebrated yourself? I mean, really celebrated yourself? The kind of celebrating that happens at weddings, graduations, or baby showers? I truly admire those who choose to celebrate themselves and their accomplishments, no matter how big or small! So why is it so hard for some of us to give ourselves some props?
I had this conversation with myself, yes myself (what can I say, I like me), and I can’t for the life of me understand why we are sometimes so quick to humble ourselves when the first thing we should be doing is sharing that euphoric feeling with the world. Now I don’t mean mean being prideful or arrogant but genuinely saying to yourself: Great Job! You Did That! or Heck Yea!
My best friend recently received a promotion at work. When I called to congratulate her, she brushed it off like it was nothing. She quickly said “thank you” and kept talking about her wilted houseplants. Hold on, I said!!! We are gonna celebrate this because this IS a BIG deal. First, we’re in the midst of a pandemic and you just received a promotion! How crazy is that? Secondly, you’ve worked your tail off for that company for years so you definitely deserve it. Of course, at this point, I’m shouting. Although, she was laughing hysterically at this point, she was still being way to modest.
I recently conquered making this mouth watering dessert from Pinterest (courtesy of funmoneymom.com). Although it is a simple no bake recipe, you best believe I was celebrating within these walls. The taste alone deserved it’s own applause! Why celebrate over a simple recipe you ask? Well, not only did this recipe turn out better than expected, I was also able to share it with my family who loved and devoured it. Win-Win!
Celebrating yourself becomes even more important when you accomplish your goals. Who says it has to be a huge goal before you celebrate? Don’t exclude those small wins. Small wins are just stepping stones to your ultimate goal. If your goal is to lose 10lbs in a month and you’ve been working tirelessly but have only lost 2lbs and maybe a few inches….That’s cause for a celebration. That’s 2lbs lighter than what you were. Yahhhh! Also, having the motivation to continue exercising, even when the scale is slow to move (darn scale) is an achievement within itself…double yahhhhh! You are Amazing.
So go ahead and celebrate by buying yourself those sunflowers you’ve been eyeing, wearing that bright red lipstick you’ve been saving for a perfect occasion, or treating yourself to that looooong spa-like bath; You totally deserve it.

I invested in my spa tub with a custom live edge tub tray. I love it! I was like a kid with a new toy! You’re right we need to celebrate life and the little things matter.
Whoa!!
