Hey guys! I sure hope that you are enjoying this beautiful Labor Day weekend in the Queen City.
My family and friends all know that I am a die hard foodie and one thing I love more than anything is scouring the Charlotte Agenda or Charlotte Five to see what new restaurants have popped up around Charlotte. I’m still fairly new to the city which means I’m still adding new places to my repertoire. One restaurant that recently caught my eye is, The Waterman.
I pass this place every time I’m driving down South Blvd, which is the cutest, most eclectic area by the way. From the street, you can see the lovely rooftop area. I looked up reviews on Yelp like I always do and decided to give it a try. Being that restaurants are still operating at 50 percent capacity, it is better if you make a reservation. We were in the area and decided to try our luck and lo and behold, space was available to accommodate my family of five…Score!
We sat upstairs in the rooftop area which was set up like a sports bar. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe it was more of an adult sports bar setting because my kids were the only ones present. Ha! The breeze up top couldn’t have been more perfect. We placed our order which came out within 25 minutes or so. Let me tell ya, one word: DELICIOUS! The kids got their usual, chicken strips, grilled cheese, and fries. My husband order a bacon & swiss burger and I ordered the chicken & waffles. Now, I’m normally not a chicken and waffle fan but the description stated savory and sweet which I couldn’t pass up. The Belgium waffle was very sweet which was right up my alley. The chicken was fried perfectly and the sauce that brought it all together was an unexpected surprise. I’m not even sure of the taste to tell you the truth but it really brought the entire dish together. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while….mainly because this was the first time we’ve actually sat down in a restaurant since COVID started.
With the way 2020 has been going, the Waterman truly made this Labor Day weekend special. I mean, what’s better than a bright sunny day with breezy weather and great food? I definitely can’t wait to return. So tell me guys, what are your favorite eateries around Charlotte?
