PRACTICING GRATITUDE WITHIN THE PANDEMIC
March 21, 2020
Coronavirus has destroyed what we’ve come to know as normal. We’ve never seen or experienced anything quite like this before and frankly, its a bit scary. Although we are in the second month of this pandemic, there seems to be little sign that we can begin to have a bit of normalcy. Businesses, churches, and schools are all stilled closed and virtual services are on the rise. People have lost jobs and unemployment is at an all time high. Stress is lurking around every corner and there are seemingly no defined way to handle it.
Still, in the midst of all this madness, there are things that we an “choose” to be grateful for. Practicing gratitude doesn’t mean that everything around us is joyous. If we constantly relied upon our feelings, we’d continually have a shaky depiction of what it truly means to be grateful.
Practicing gratitude can be as simple as this…….. I am grateful for __________. You can fill in the blank with whatever you wish. It doesn’t have to be complex. Sometimes it helps if you write in a journal or on a post-it and stamp to your mirror. This way, you can see it every morning you awake or when you need a pick me up. I have compiled a list of things that I’m grateful for. Feel free to use any of these to create your own list.
I am grateful for…waking up this morning
I am grateful for…my husband’s hugs
I am grateful for…the sound of my children’s voices
I am grateful for…being able to see the sunshine through my window
I am grateful for…being able to speak with my Mom and tell her I love her
I hope practicing gratitude with this simple measure will encourage you during this time.
Just remember; You are Special & You are Loved
Love Kee
