One thing I lovvvvve about Christmas is it’s the start of cheesy Christmas movie season. I mean who doesn’t love a good cheesy movie? My weekends in December normally consist of me stretched out on the couch in sweats, wrapped in my favorite blanket, sipping a huge latte and eating whatever snack I have on hand (new year goal- nix the sweets).
I’m always rewriting the movie script in my head because they are always so darn predictable; Boy and Girl grow up together in a small town, Girl leaves town for a job in the big city, girl gets assignment to work in small town in which she grew up, girl runs into boy childhood friend, re-kindles romance, break-up for a millisecond, and then realize that they are meant to be after boy tracks her down at train station (or airport). I mean, how cheesy is that but I love every second of it.
Since I’m such a Christmas movie nerd, I’ve compiled a list for you (as well as my reviews) of Christmas movies I’ve watched in the past as well as some that I’ve recently watched. Be sure to check these out when you can.
Radio Christmas
Such a cute movie starring Keisha Knight-Pullium (aka Rudy from The Cosby Show). Synopsis: Girl takes a job as a radio host in the small town she grew up in and finds new love. Review: I really liked this one. Keisha is in quite a few Christmas movies but I think this one by far is my fav.
You Light up my Christmas
Great movie starring Kim Fields. Synopsis: Girl returns to hometown to oversee the factory her father left to her after he passed. Review: Loved this movie. Kim Fields and her love interest have great chemistry.
Marry Me for Christmas
This movie, starring Malinda Williams, is pretty funny. Synopsis: Girl visits hometown and rekindles romance with an old flame. Review: This is the first of four subsequent movies in this series. Don’t hesitate to watch them all.
Operation Christmas Drop
Love this movie starring Kat Graham. Synopsis: Reporter visits a Military base to get first-hand knowledge about Aircraft Christmas Drops. Review: As an Air Force Veteran, this movie holds a special place in my heart. It’s a really fun Christmas movie to watch.
*Fun Fact: Yes, this is a real humanitarian mission! Operation Christmas Drop started in 1952 and continues to this day!
The Christmas Calendar
Another cute and cheesy movie starring Kat Graham, Synopsis: Photographer finds the true meaning of love with the help of an Advent calendar. Review: Definitely cheesy but cute nonetheless.
Same Time Next Christmas
Great movie starring Lea Michele!!! Synopsis: Girl goes on annual family Christmas vacation to Hawaii and realize that love has been there all along. Review: My gosh, The views!!! Absolutely stunning. This movie had me willing to skip a few bills to book Hawaii for next Christmas. Cute movie and I loved the chemistry between the families.
The Christmas Inn
Decent movie starring Tia Mowry. Synopsis: Girl moves to Alaska after inheriting an old Inn from a family member. Review: Now I do love the Mowry sisters, but this movie was a bust for me. Even in cheesy movies, it’s a must that there is some type of chemistry right? I wanted to like this one but I absolutely did not!
The Christmas Hotel
Cute movie starring Tatyana Ali. Synopsis: High powered executive is sent back to her hometown to restructure a hotel (make it Christmas-y). Review: This was a decent movie although I felt like the chemistry between the main characters could’ve been a bit more realistic.
Holidate
Great movie starring Emma Roberts. Synopsis: Girl and guy pretend to date to appease her family. Review: I really liked this movie. It was a really fun watch.
Merry Liddle Christmas
Very cute movie starring Kelly Rowland. Synopsis: After trying to throw the perfect family dinner, chaos ensues and so does an unexpected love. Review: This was such a cute movie. Kelly was a bit stiff but that just may be how her character is portrayed. Bresha Webb, who plays her sister, was hilarious.
Welp, there you have it! I’m sure if you’re anything like me, you’ve been saving these movies to your favorites wondering how many you’ll actually get to watch before Christmas. There are so many more movies that I haven’t had a chance to watch on top of the new ones that are premiering soon. If you have a favorite movie that wasn’t mentioned, please drop it in the comments below. I’ll be sure to add it to my list.
Happy Watching!!!!
